Salamba śīrṣāsana or supported headstand is a principal component of every Jivamukti class and is referred to as the king of asanas in B.K.I. Iyengar's "Light on Yoga" for a reason. The headstand revitalises the entire body and mind by reversing gravity's effect on the body. By changing perspective, it helps to awaken the Sahasrāra (crown) chakra, the chakra of higher consciousness, wisdom and unity. By turning our viewpoint upside down, we are challenged to perceive the variety of perspectives and become even more open in heart and mind.
But how can we take that step of trusting ourselves and carrying the full weight of our body on our head? In this workshop we will learn the connection between Tāḍāsana and headstand, we will explore the building blocks of inversions and the correct weight distribution. We will learn how to skilfully enter and exit headstand and how to perform variations such as tripod headstand (mukta hasta śīrṣāsana a). The workshop takes place in a small group and is aimed at intermediate to advanced practitioners.
Depending on the participants‘ command of German, the workshop will be held in English or German language.
For the energy resupply after the asana practice, you can enjoy vegan bowls catered by Heaven’s Kitchen (included in workshop fee).
