About

Photography by Caro Aubry

Alya is an architect and a yoga teacher currently based in Sri Lanka. Of Moscow origin, she first came into contact with yoga back in her hometown in 2010. What first seemed to be a fun workout had gradually developed into her passion and a lifestyle. The spiritual aspect of yoga helps her on her way to becoming a better human being. Alya’s goal is to spread the teachings of the dharma and to encourage the shift from the egocentric and anthropocentric lifestyle towards a kinder, more compassionate, diverse, and inclusive world, all while finding joy in the process.

In her vigorous Vinyasa and Jivamukti classes you develop listening skills and concentrate on a conscious connection between your breath and body movements. You are encouraged to gradually develop your practice in facing obstacles and to explore the potential for growth both physically and mentally.
