Sound is the essence of all energy.

Nada - the Yoga of Sound

In my lineage of yoga, Jivamukti, Nāda constitutes one of the 5 Tenets of the practice. The practice of nāda yoga is all about refining and perfecting outer listening skills to refine and perfect inner listening skills.

In nāda yoga, there are two types of sound:

The first one is Ahata Nāda, the struck sound. Everything external belongs here: voices, chants, instruments, nature sounds. These are the vibrations that enter through listening, yet you can move you deeply, beyond the mind.

The second type of sound is the unstruck sound. This is the vibration within, something you sense when you become very quiet. It’s subtle, not always something the ear can hear, more like a current that connects you to your own consciousness.

One turns you inward, the other outward. Both are reminders that life itself is a constant shift of energy.

Sound baths for me is a way to weave these two dimensions together: the inner silence and the outer resonance. They create a space where you don’t have to “do” anything, only soften, receive, and allow sound to work through you.

It moved me deeply. I’ve rarely found myself able to relax so quickly and, at the same time, so deeply – it was a very special experience for me.
