Asana Lab

Asana Lab are monthly workshops dedicated to deconstructing the asanas of your choice. In each Asana Lab, we'll dive deep into the anatomy, alignment, and technique of selected asanas. We will break down key misunderstandings, work through common stumbling stones, and explore how to skillfully integrate props to enhance your experience. Whether arm balances, standing asanas, backbends or forward folds - any asana question is welcome. Ideal for both experienced yogis and newcomers, these sessions offer valuable insights that cater to all levels of practice.

  • Unlike regular Vinyasa and Jivamukti classes, which are typically taught in a more structured, instructor-led format, Asana Lab is a workshop designed to allow plenty of time for interaction, questions, and personalized feedback about the asanas you are most struggling with.

  • Nothing different to any regular yoga class. However, take some time beforehand to reflect on the asanas you find most challenging or have questions about.

  • The goal of this workshop is to explore and refine asanas that are often overlooked or not thoroughly addressed in regular class settings. This may include arm balances, backbends, or inversions. If you are a complete beginner, it’s recommended to start with a Yoga Basics or Fundamentals of Vinyasa course to gain an introduction to the most common yoga poses.

What People Are Saying

  • “During the Asana lab session Alya offered clear and beneficial verbal, energetic and hands on alignment support. Alya let myself and the other students lead with which asanas we would focus on. I have left with small, subtle cues, that have enhanced the asanas I had queries on. Extremely grateful for your teaching.”

  • “The asana lab workshop was really nice! We went through the alignment and adjustments from all the asanas our group was asking for. It was a fun, safe and playful space to explore and understand the own body in the different postures. Our group was only yoga teachers and it was such a good adjustment practice as well. But doesn’t matter if yoga teacher or not this workshop really helps to understand the different asanas to feel stable and safe for following yoga classes. 🫶🏼”
